Urgent Call for Endorsements by Indigenous Peoples

Chickaloon Mat River

The International Indian Treaty Council has been working with Human Rights organizations, Civil Society representatives, Indigenous Peoples organizations and Environmental Defenders on a Global Call for the UN to Recognize the Right to a Healthy Environment. This will advance full realization of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Article 29, regarding the right of Indigenous Peoples to the conservation and protection of the environment and the productive capacity of their lands or territories and resources. We are calling on Indigenous Nations, Networks and Organizations to endorse this letter by no later than September 8th, 2020.  It will be submitted to the 45th Session of Human Rights Council on September 10th to build support by State parties. We respectfully ask you to join with us, and share it with organizations that might be interested as well: bit.ly/Right2Environment_SignOn.
